doctorSHARE held another medical service in Makassar, South Sulawesi on Sunday, November 19, 2017. In this medical service, doctorSHARE collaborated with PT Astra Internasional. The medical service is one of the activities in the event entitled “Astra Health Festival”. This event was held in conjunction with the 60th Anniversary of PT Astra International. Anjungan Pantai Losari was chosen as the center of this event.

The series of activities that took place in medical services included general treatment, health counseling, and minor surgery at the Floating Hospital (RSA) dr. Lie Dharmawan. The three activities run at the same time, each activity has doctors and nurses who are ready to serve.

Based on the report from the General Medicine Coordinator, Dr. Karnel Singh, the number of general medicine patients was 499 patients. The four most common diseases include Hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol), Myalgia (muscle pain), Hypertension, and Upper Respiratory Infection (URI).

Minor surgery activities took place at RSA Dr. Lie Dharmawan, which is anchored not far from Anjungan Pantai Losari. Patients who wanted and had undergone minor surgery were transported using the lifeboat provided. The distance of RSA dr. Lie Dharmawan is only about 15 meters from the dock, so it does not complicate the mobility of minor surgery patients.

Minor Surgery Coordinator, Dr. Debby Kurniawati Adi Saputra, mentioned that there were four minor surgery patients. “There are four minor surgery patients. The four patients have different surgical cases including Soft Tissue Tumor, Veruca Vulgaris (Wart), Ganglion, and Lipoma,” said dr. Debby.

After the examination by the doctor, the general medicine patients took medicine at the pharmacy. While waiting for the medicine to be prepared, patients received health counseling on hypertension or high blood pressure. The doctor in charge of the counseling, Dr. Posti Siswati explained first, then continued with a question and answer session with the patients.

Medical services in Makassar utilize the Car Free Day (CFD) moment around Losari Beach. Many people do activities outside their homes at that moment. The activity started at 07:00 WITA and ended at 11:00 WITA. The enthusiasm of the community can be seen from the number of people coming to this event. Not a few people came with their family members.

In addition to free medical treatment, the Astra Health Festival event provides blood donation facilities for people who want to donate blood. The event was also enlivened by an array of booths featuring various healthy food products from Makassar. Music and dance entertainment on the main stage enlivened and became a magnet in this event.
